How you move up, level by level
Everything you need to go from A1 to C2, organised around the Common European Framework.

Six CEFR levels
A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2: the same scale used by schools, employers and language exams across Europe.

72 units per course
Twelve units per level, with short lessons and a story at the end of every unit.

Placement test
Questions from each level that adapt to your answers. You start at the first level you don’t pass.

Exam per level
At the end of each level, an exam with exercises from all its units. Score 70% and you pass.

Smart review
What you find hard comes back in reviews, so you don’t forget it as you move up.

Explained in your language
Explanations come in your own language, with notes on what changes between the two.
Your path to C2
Take the placement test
Up to five questions per level: four right and you move up, two wrong and it stops.
Work through each unit
Five-minute lessons, reviews and a story at the end of every unit.
Pass the level exam
Once you finish the 12 units of a level, show what you’ve learned in the level exam.
Climb to C2
Repeat the path level by level until you master the language.
What you’ll be able to do at each level
A rough guide based on the Common European Framework descriptors.
| Level | Name | What you’ll be able to do |
|---|---|---|
| A1 | Beginner | Introduce yourself, greet people and understand very simple sentences about you and your surroundings. |
| A2 | Elementary | Get by in everyday situations: shopping, ordering at a restaurant or talking about your routine. |
| B1 | Intermediate | Travel with confidence, describe experiences and give your opinion on familiar topics. |
| B2 | Upper intermediate | Hold fluent conversations, understand complex texts and argue a point of view. |
| C1 | Advanced | Express yourself naturally at work or in your studies and pick up on nuance. |
| C2 | Proficient | Understand virtually everything and express yourself precisely, even on difficult topics. |
Each level has 12 units and ends with an exam. The placement test puts you at the right one.

What are the A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2 levels?
They are the six levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR): A1 and A2 (basic user), B1 and B2 (independent user) and C1 and C2 (proficient user).
How does the placement test work?
It asks up to five questions from each level, starting at A1. Four right answers take you to the next level and two mistakes stop the test. You start at the first level you don’t pass, and the earlier units stay unlocked.
What is the exam at each level like?
At the end of each level there’s an exam with 20 exercises from all its units. You need 70% to pass; if you don’t make it, you can review and try again.
How long does it take to move up a level?
It depends on your pace. Each level has 12 units of short lessons: a few minutes a day keeps you moving steadily.
Does Parlumi give an official certificate?
No. Parlumi uses the CEFR levels to organise its courses, but it doesn’t issue official certificates.
Which languages can I learn up to C2?
All nine: Spanish, English, French, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Catalan, German, Dutch and Swedish. Every course has 72 units, from A1 to C2.
