Lessons that feel like a game

Five minutes a day: you choose, put words in order, match and type. You earn XP, keep your streak going and hit your daily goal.

Real-life phrases

Learn what people actually say, with natural voices, slow audio and a story at the end of every unit.

Speak up with confidence

Say the phrases out loud and your iPhone checks your pronunciation instantly. The audio isn’t saved.

Remember what you learn

The words you struggle with come back in reviews. If you get stuck, “I don’t know” shows you the answer and makes a note of it.

Placement test

Already know some? Take the placement test and start at your level

No need to repeat what you already know. The Parlumi placement test checks every level from A1 to C2 and adapts as you go: get it right and it moves up; slip up and it stops. In a few minutes you know where to start.

  • Five questions per level: translate, fill in the gaps, listen, build sentences and spot the mistake.
  • Four correct answers take you to the next level; two mistakes end the test.
  • The units you skip are unlocked, and you can play them any time with all their rewards.
  • Take it when you start a course or later from your path. If you don’t beat your current level, you lose nothing.

Parlumi is a small seaside city where every language is spoken. Among mountains, rivers, markets and squares live sixteen neighbours from all over the world: a traveller who collects customs, a curious boy with his magnifying glass, an artist, a cook who always has room for one more, a mentor who explains everything calmly…

They go with you through every lesson: they introduce the activities, celebrate when you get it right and cheer you on when something doesn’t work out. Each one has a story, hobbies and a way of speaking, because a language is easier to learn with real people.

Amina

Amina arrived in Parlumi on the morning ferry and decided to stay “just one more week”… three years ago. She collects recipes, greetings and customs from every corner, and her map is covered in notes. Malik

Iris

Is Parlumi free?

Yes. It’s a free download on the App Store with no ads. You can try the first lessons without creating an account.

Which languages can I learn?

Spanish, English, French, German, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese and Catalan, from any of the others. Each course runs from A1 to C2 across 72 units.

How does the placement test work?

It asks up to five questions per level, starting at A1. Four correct answers move you up; two mistakes stop the test. You start at the first level you don’t pass, and the earlier units are unlocked.

Can I retake the placement test?

Yes, from the lesson path of each language. If your result is below where you already are, your progress stays the same.

Can I change my avatar?

Yes, from your profile. Your avatar and name are saved to your account and synced across devices.

Do I need an account?

Not to get started. To save your progress and sync it, create a free account with Sign in with Apple. You can delete it at any time.
